When I was small, I saw The Last Starfighter in the theater as part of a double feature with The Karate Kid. I have fond memories of the former, but not so much of the latter.
But, yes, hands-down They Live should be on any list of a "guilty sci-fi pleasures"; good call.

Nice. But you neglcted 'Critters' dude!
I don't remember: What was the difference between Critters and Munchies? I mean, other than the fact that they were both derivative of Gremlins and went straight to video?
Sean Connery (during a low point in his own career) as a down-on-his-luck Space Marshal, who decides to redeem his honor and clean up the town - even though his bosses don't want him to.
It's even got a pre-Cheers Cliff Claven.
Pure cheese, but I love it.
Outland. Totally forgot about that one. I acutally like that film quite a bit, though it is basically just High Noon in space.
Frances Sternhagen as the mining colony doctor is just awesome. I think it also has a nice commentary about corporate greed at the expense of people. Plus an incredible set. The movie has actually aged decently for a sci-fi film.
Another great Roddy Piper movie is "Hell comes to Frogtown"
I don't know if you have heard of it or have even seen it. Amazingly bad to the Nth degree. Good luck finding it if you haven't seen it.

Night of the Comet is gold. I caught it on tv a few years ago and thought I was on drugs.

I JUST SAW THAT!
Why my mom had a copy of it, I don't know. But it was a VHS tape!
I loved how one crack in a helmet would make the person explode.
I have been reading that someone is remaking Escape from New York starring that Leonidas guy from 300.... I know.....Next remake Raging Bull with Tony Soprano.
