iPhones do look pretty cool, but I imagine that if ever I got one, I'd need to carry around wetnaps just to keep the screen from being constantly covered in greasy fingerprints.

I was hoping I wasn't the only one to whom this thought immediately occurred. The smudges and stuff on the screen of my current phone bug me enough as it is. I can't imagine how constantly irritated I'd be by the iPhone. It's all screen! ALL SCREEN!

Also, I don't know why anyone buys a first-generation Apple anything.

I don't really know why anyone buys a first-generation anything from anyone. Especially waiting in gigantic lines to do so. (Or overpaying hugely on eBay). But hey, their crazy is our second+ generation release.

I agree with you there somewhat. With some things I won't stand in line for because I absolutely know that there is a version that I would rather want coming on down the line, like the DS for example. I knew there was going to be a smaller, brighter, prettier version with longer battery life coming out eventually as per the trend with all Nintendo Portables. I knew that I should wait on getting an iPod until I could get a version that didn't weigh 5 lbs. So on an so forth.

However, when it comes to things like the Wii, I fuckin' had to have one of those things right off the bat. It was as soon as they announced the controller at the 2005 Tokyo Game Show I knew I would have to be in possession of one as soon as possible. I don't care a DVD version's coming out. I don't want to wear out my drive with DVDs anyway (that's what happened with 2 of my PS2s). I don't care about the other colors, because well, as the way it is in my residence now, my Wii and DS match.

I know it's a gamble but I've never had any serious problems with the company before. To this day, the little white box in my living room has run like a champ.

I really wanted an iPhone for months... then, I realized to get one I would have to cancel the cell phone I have ($200 early termination fee) and then go with Cingular who will undoubtedly want a deposit from me ($300) and then to purchase the device ($500)... I decided it wasn't worth it.

Besides, I have a 30gb iPod and a $300 phone from Helio. That's pretty much the same thing, right?

(Plus, I don't have the dropped calls that I had with Cingular previously.)

I'm actually kind of hoping that apple makes a multi-touch widescreen video iPod.

Essentially an iPhone that's not a phone. I really don't want my music/video to be constantly interrupted by people calling me.

this Link's for you!

I walked into an apple store at 11 PM on Friday evening - I was there for 3 mins and was on my way. I love the shit out of this phone. My beefs are software related - a few bugs to work out - specifically in the mail program. The phone, maps and UI are terrific. Very enjoyable - and I had AT&T before - but couldn't talk on my cell in my apartment - but this new phone gives me a usable signal. Still, it will be interesting to see what kind of traction it has away away from mac fanatics.

wait till your non-replaceable battery's life gets shorter and shorter

no biggy, it will only cost you a little over $100 to replace it.
