I know this is about a ban in the UK, but I want to make a point about violence in America: Our crime rate is among the worst in the world, if not the worst. Yet there are violent video games in many countries, that don't have the kind of crime that we do.
Parents need to teach their kids the difference between right and wrong, and the difference between fantasy, and reality. Parents need to tell their children that it's only ok to hit and kill in a video game, because it isn't real.. If you do those things in real life, people really get hurt, and it's wrong to hurt other people.
America has a violence problem for the same reason we have a childhood obeasity problem: Parents that don't have the stomach for diciplining their kids, teaching them good values, and teaching them how to be healthy. In other words, "parenting".
I loved the first Manhunt. I had a great time playing it, but I would never dream of murdering people like that in real life because my parents taught me that is a horrible, horrible thing to do. (And my dad would kick my ass.)
I don't care about this game being banned, it just upsets me that something so grotesque and vile as this game is so popular. I don't know about you people, but I don't really want to play a game where I can make people hurt in different ways. I guess I just don't have it in me.

They should probably ban that one that came out recently which uses actual footage of Jamie Bulger, a kid who was beaten to death by two teenagers, taken as the two lead him away- the last pictures of the child alive.
I mean that's kind of unnecissary.
To be fair they have banned it now after Jamie's mum called the company and complained... so it was illegal use of the image as well as distasteful... hmmmm.
Fictional violence however... that's what they created age ratings for.

Thats a new Law & Order game , im sure somepeople would have been fired over this now aswell , i mean honestly thinking they could get away with using footage of James Bulger and nobody in the UK would not notice.
Also i honestly don't care about Manhunt 2 , the first one was terrible.

Actually the US crime rate being the worst in the world is a myth. Check your facts next time. Except for murder your about as likely or more likely to be victimized in the UK than you are in the US.
i love how on the UK news today, they siad it was unsuitable for children...no shit....lol...I wish they Banned games for just being really really bad...instead of just on the basis of violence
and yes i did want to strangle someone with a Wiimote!! before I even played Manhunt 2
Am I the only person who really loved the first Manhunt? Not because of the gory kill animations, but because of the incredible atmosphere and skillful handling of stealth. I got tense playing that game like no other. The way you were both predator and prey was also pretty darn nifty.
Plus it opened my eyes to the wonders of the stealth action genre and meant I finally wound up playing such beauteous games as Hitman 2 and the Thief series. I really don't understand all the hate.

No way. It's rare I find an action game that I can really get into. I actually beat Manhunt, despite the fact that I had to redo some sections dozens of times. Incredibly well made, it was.

no, this game should really be banned. it's all about killing "sinners" (ie, gays and muslims) and converting non-believers or casting them to hell... seriously, it's pretty fucked up.
Rockstar no longer has any choice if they want to release Manhunt 2 other then toning it down to recieve a M rating or winning an appeal with the ESRB. Joystiq.com has an official statement from Nintendo of America.
"Games made for Nintendo systems enjoy a broad variety of styles, genres and ratings. These are some of the reasons our Wii and Nintendo DS systems appeal to such a broad range of people. But as with books, television and movies, different content is meant for different audiences. That's why the ESRB provides ratings to help consumers understand the content of a game before they purchase it. As stated on Nintendo.com, Nintendo does not allow any AO-rated content on its systems."
So until Manhunt 2 in a M rated game, it won't be hitting the Wii. They also had a quote from a Sony spokesman saying...
Currently it's SCE's policy not to allow the playback of AO rated content on our systems."
So no PS2 or PSP versions, either.
I really wanted to play Manhunt 2. It looked really intriguing. Hopefully they can get themselves an M rating and get the game released without having to tone down their vision of the game too much.

This game sounds very comical indeed.
Especially if people can try to crucify you in it.
They need to make a gory game out of Passion of the Christ, or maybe a revenge game where you get to play as a murderous zombie Jesus.
'He died for your sins... now it's payback time!!!!!!!!!'

£50 says Mel Gibson launches this game in the next year. Yes.
