As a Ron Paul supporter and member of the John Birch Society, I can tell you that we are not "nutjobs". I take great offense to that since you can probably tell me nothing at all, at least nothing true about the JBS. All Ron Paul and the JBS want is to get America back to the Constitution. I don't see why people would be against that. Our country was founded on those principles with guidelines to be followed, and we were doing ok until we faltered from those rules. Now look at the state of our government. People with no knowledge of a subject should not speak about it. Our country is in dire need of help, and the only way to save it is to educate yourself and others on the constitutional way of government, and vote accordingly. Remember that patriotism has nothing to do with loving your government, it is about loving your country, two different things.

Uh, yeah. Just because someone completely disagrees with your right wing insane policies does not make them uneducated. People can think you are a nutjob and actually be quite educated. I would be one of them.

The JBS is a collection of lunatics and Ron Paul is lacks historical perspective.

whatever, nutjobs.

Let me get this straight nysrogh, you are working as a merchant sailor on a ship and you define that as being a modern day pirate, yet you accuse others of not being educated accordingly ?

Thats rich.

I am a lawyer. I got an A in constitutional law from a reputable law school. I understand our constitution. Ron Paul and his ilk do not. We have not departed from our constitutional system. It has evolved over time, which is what was intended by the fucking Framers. Stop drinking the Kool-Aid and get with the program.

No, we should strictly adhere to a 200 year old document. It's the only thing that makes sense.

oh man, this was better than i could have anticipated, ftr.

ron paul was my congressman when i was in college and so i was exposed to all his wackjobbery way back in the day, so it's totally bizarre to hear some decidedly non-maniacal friends (read; friends who don't have bunkers in their backyards or rub one out while reading atlas shrugged every night) talk about how refreshing ron paul is. my response every time is "really?...no, seriously?"

on a completely unrelated note:

Nobody with a non-ironic moustache should hold public office.

possibly one of the best sentences ever written in newswire history.

It may have been the best sentence ever written in newswire history until you shepherded this pearl to the page...

That's exactly the one I was thinking of, too! And where women and propertyless men were denied the right to vote - even if they were white! And where the state legislatures chose ("did chuse") the electors who voted for the president, rather than letting this whole "democracy" thing get totally out of hand.

We did so well back in those days. The government paid you for Indian scalps, Chinese were forbidden to enter the country, and there were no laws against lynching. Good times indeed, my friend.

Or when the states were precluded from setting standards and regulating workplace safety? Or when 12 year olds had the "economic freedom" to work in coal mines? That was AWESOME! Let's go back to those golden days!

It was the labor unions that destroyed the American worker. Indeed, my brother, indeed. Back in the days when a man was allowed to work a twenty-hour day when he was forced to by Pinkerton guards, he sure knew how to put money in the pockets of a robber baron.

There's just no drive to excel like that, anymore.

Or how about when it was okay for the states to tell you whom you could fuck and what orifice you were allowed to stick your wang in? Or when they could forbid doctors to discuss birth control to married couples? Or when the states were precluded from setting standards and regulating workplace safety? Or when 12 year olds had the "economic freedom" to work in coal mines? That was AWESOME! Let's go back to those golden days!
