Even if this all blows up bigger than Watergate, that just means a bit of drama and then the pendulum swings the other way for a minute. Nobody wins but Luther Blissett. Not until there's real election reform and we get more than two viable parties. [Enter Ross Perot.]

The fact that Bush and Co. only had to manipulate the voting results "a little" in both 2000 and 2004 is the scariest thing for me. Just shows how many ignorant, hateful, bigots we have voting in this country.

Or it could just mean that the other candidate was just not all that appealing either.

seriously. i mean, if went to vote in 2004 and had to choose between someone who fucked the country raw for four years or virtually anyone else on the fucking planet, i'd probably just vote for the douchebag i know, right? totally.

To be fair, Bush (or, rather, Rove) is a good campaigner. And scorp17yh makes a good point about the scariness of the electorate. And Colinism just proves his point by being an idiot.

FearTheReaper, do you have more sources on these claims?

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

Bush was losing Ohio late into the night. Exit polls showed a Kerry victory. Then, just after midnight, for 90 minutes, election results were frozen on the Secretary of State's website. The explanation was that the state was waiting for the rural counties results. Apparently they didn't trickle in, they all came at once because 90 minutes later Bush was on top. By the way, exit polls are the main detector of voter fraud across the world. Just not in the USA.

So, what happened? We don't know. The Republican Secretary of State attempted to have the ballots destroyed but was stopped by a judge. Now the Democrats control Ohio and they are seeking answers.

The Republican Party controlled the technology that allowed the tally of the vote in Ohio to be reported to the media and voters. The incredibly odd results were routed by country election officials through the Republican Secretary of State's office and the final results were hosted out of a computer in Tennessee. The Party created, owned and operated the vote-counting system that reported Bush's re-election.

I'd like to read more about it, and no offense, but a Rolling Stone article just doesn't do it for me.

FearTheReaper also linked to an AlterNet article by the authors of this book, which calls itself "an array of primary sources."

But you see, that's why I responded with a "tongue" rather than a dissertation on HST's drug induced rants. Like all good rebellious high schoolers, I've read just about all his books.

Wait for it...

here is how im thinking it is going to go down , bush is going to hire a special prosucuter to investigate all his cronies , so the house of reps willl want to supeana rove , cheney, rice so heres the catch , no ms rice, mr rove and mr cheney cannot possibly testify before congress because they are under investigation for criminal offences and the congressional branch cannot interfere with a criminal investigation, then what? have they sucessfully overthown america??? . i will see you all in the streets in resistance meetings ,as the third american revolution begins, thank god there are smart generals and statesmen still out there , now is the time when our own personal integrity really counts

Ah, the old I-cannot-comment-due-to-the-ongoing-investigation defense... Well interestingly enough, that is just what seems to be happening with the
Office of Special Council (not to be confused with the Office Of Special Plans, the pre-war false intelligence think tank led by Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and Feith). It probably was Rove who came up with the idea himself so as to prevent any investigations or subpoenas issued by the Legislative Branch from taking place... I can see their findings already. "They have nothing to hide, see, nothing!" It's kind if like the old "If the gloves don't fit, you must acquit" defense. The interesting thing is that some of these special "independent" investigators are now being investigated themselves over allegations for what appear to be politically motivated actions surprisingly similar to Rove's...

Scott Bloch, appointed by Bush in 2004 to be the Special Council of the U.S. Office of Special Council (yeah, I know kind of a redundant and self-important sounding job). It's hardly going to be a fair and impartial investigation with an Executive Branch office investigating the Executive Branch, especially when Scott Bloch has been known to intimidate his own staffers as well as a whole myriad of unethical mismanagement practices... Regarding the investigation of the Office of Special Council, they provided the following gem,

"Due to the fact that this is an ongoing investigation, OSC cannot comment on it other than to say we look forward to the speedy resolution."

Doh! Fucking brilliant. surreal

The Republicans are so fucking stupid they couldn't even steal the 2006 elections right. Damn 'tards. They had enough practice in 2000 and 2004. What gives?

Rove is super douchey, but I dig his trippy frolicking sissy dance moves.
