Make the couch pay reparations and then go on an 11 city apology tour. After that cut the tags off and re-label the color something more acceptable, like "burnt porridge."

but since the couch is dark brown isn't it ok if it says the n-word? and also could the n-word actually mean dark brown in chinese since negro is black in spanish?

The Mandarin for "dark brown" would be something like "an de zongse." So, no. And no.

However, interestingly enough, according to Wikipedia, it can be confused with the Mandarin Chinese word "nèigè", or "that."

Speaking of Engrish, it's known to happen.

But nèigè isn't a word, it's two words. Nèi means "that" (more properly speaking, it's one of two pronunciations for "that," the other being ) while is what's called a "counting word," vaguely analogous to an English article (though with no real equivalents in English at all). I can't explain it much better than that, since my Mandarin has gone to crap, but maybe someone else can.

And you bumped this horrible thread just for that?

If they get a replacement couch, I'd love the old one.

I have no problem sitting on a Nigger Brown, but most importantly, FREE couch.
