Do you have any kind of source for that last piece of apparent bullshit? Preferrably one that doesn't start with en.wikipedia.org...

Neither of his two stalking victims were among the victims. There's been no mention of him ever HAVING a girlfriend. It's likely that if he had, the press would be all over her right now. Or all over that end of the story if she were one of the victims.

i read a whole thread yesterday on another board where people were talking matter of factly that the first two murders happened because she was his girlfriend and was cheating with the RA.

w.t.F.

whatever puke whatever puke

That's wholly inaccurate. The first woman killed's boyfriend was the original suspect, and he was detained in between the incidents. The RA heard the commotion happening during the first shooting and came to help, whereupon he was shot.

Seung-Hui's first target was his ex-girlfriend, 18-year-old Emily Jane Hilscher. According to Virginia Tech students, Hilscher cheated on Seung-Hui, who was on medication for depression.

This should be corrected. There are no sources cited and apparently no news stories that sneeze toward the killer a) knowing his victims & b) taking medication.

So, I don't blame video games at all. But what bugs me is that when things like this happens, both sides (blame games/exonerate games) quickly clamber to claim the moral high ground. Which kind of obfuscates figuring out what really *did* lead to something like this happening. For instance, I would buy that video games/violent media/violent fantasies are a *necessary* condition of something like this happening - overcoming the social and biological barriers to ending another human life is pretty rough stuff. But these same media are obviously not *sufficient* conditions - not everyone who plays that game, or writes a pissy poem goes off and does this. But, at some point, I wouldn't be surprised if these are interacting (mental state/media) - and I'd like to know more how it works. But the rhetorical battles, carried out via sound bites, seem to prevent that more clinical, clear headed discussion from happening.

Personally, I play violent video games to KEEP me from killing people. They don't make me want to kill people. Stupidity makes me want to kill people. Video games keeps them alive.

What is more sad than the incident itself is the fact that people use it and exploit it to further their own causes. Whether it be gun control, video games, movies, tv....some asshole is going to cleverly add it to their agenda. Then, when the sheep start to agree, they've achieved their selfish purpose - at the expense of someone else's life being fucked over.

The other aspect of this that sucks is "This may have been avoided if the people in charge would have....blah blah blah". A guy who is that fucked up, hell bent and - here's the important part...CAREFULLY PLANNING...on destroying life isn't going to be discouraged by a security camera or not being able to purchase a gun legally - they scope it out and plan around it. There are armed militia all over Iraq and they get suicide bombed left and right. Nobody can cover every single solitary scenario - so why dump that on somebody?

Lastly, when Columbine happened does anybody remember hearing "White students", "Dylan and Eric, who are white," white white white? No.

[ Still, the screwballs who do these things don't do them for media attention, they do these thing because they're crazy, defective people:

I'm sure someone has already pointed this out, however, I'm not reading through all of the pages of comments to find out.

that being said...

HE SENT A FUCKING PACKAGE TO NBC!!!!!

I'm not saying he wasn't defective, but that would certainly cause me to consider that media attention MAY have been something he was desiring. But what do I know? I'm just a pervert on a message board!

lol, if anything will drive me to murder, it's being forced to listen to Maralyn Manson.

Honestly though, there no relation between playing video games and all the people I've killed. In fact, they all would have lived if I had been playing video games at the time robot
