This is admittedly off topic, but subrosa seems to be an expert on the subject, and I am curious. Are there laws against two gay individuals entering into a contractual agreement that holds their property is jointly owned, and authorizes the other to make specific medical decisions, and the other things we associate with marriage?

Fucking Texas passed a constitutional amendment banning gay marraige, or anything resembling gay marriage. I don't know if the enabling legislation has passed, though, or if anyone has challenged the law.

Sure. I mean it takes dedication to put a fucking knife up your fucking ass just because you want to shiv a lawyer. And that kind of dedication is admirable.

Kind of in the same league as sword-swallowing.

Perhaps he always wanted to be sword-swallower but, due to being very, very stupid (forgive my presumption, but I tend to follow the rule of thumb that it is generally safe to assume that "neo-Nazi" and "very, very stupid" are synonymous), he got a bit confused about precisely what being a sword-swallower entailed and ended up getting things kind of the wrong way around.

Still, its a step up from hiding a watch up your ass anyway... wink

Maybe, breeding and selling vicious dogs is one of the Aryan Brotherhood's sources of revenue and maybe they aren't overly concerned about where that revenue comes from. For many people, money takes precedence over ideology.

It seems like a petty concern, but that seems to me to be the only part of the story that might have an explanation aside from, "These people are sick, sick fucks."

+1

and it has nothing to do with the breed of dog. it has to do with how it is raised.

Well, it certainly has something to do with the breed of dog. Certain breeds are more predisposed towards this type of behavior, and other breeds are pretty incapable of this kind of thing. The Aryan Brotherhood isn't going breed a bunch of fighting Yorkies or anything.

(Though it would be pretty hysterical if they did.)

This made me think of Sir Didymus!!! biggrin

Admittedly, I've not seen The Labyrinth for a while and Sir Didymus may in fact be a fox rather than a Yorkie but I think that, in Sir Didymus, we have a fair approximation of a fighting Yorkie's likely appearance and behaviour.

Nope. But a contractual relationship between two people doesn't affect the third-party rights and responsibilities that are conferred upon a married couple. One cannot contract one's way into forcing the state to accept joint tax returns or forcing a hospital to allow you spousal visitation time or any number of other third-party issues.

Would a medical power of attorney require the hospital to grant access? I mean, eventually, if they chose to act like total douchebags.

Or sharing your life with someone for 30 years, co-owning everything. Then you die and said person has to pay inheritance tax on anything you've owned jointly.

Having only been bitten on the face by a dog, I can only imagine the terror and pain Whipple went through before she dies. That is going to give me nightmares.

Fuck, cases like this made me wish there was some sort of afterlife, just so these fuckers could suffer properly (like being killed over and over again by large dogs).

The Aryan Brotherhood is a prison gang and I guess in prison gangs are organized by race. They are criminals first, racists second if at all (any more than any other felon). They are not to be confused with Aryan Nation, the large white supremacist organization.

Also, whoo!!! Subrosa newswire article!

Ergo: I win thread. wink

Because at the time I posted it, the fact that they lost their license was a current event and I was a current events editor. Not a difficult concept.

But keep grinding that axe, Panda.

It was a national news story when it happened. Why did that thread about the guy getting killed on Greyhound get posted in News? Isn't that only relevant to Canadians' interests?
