Do we have at least one Texan who's got something even remotely thoughtful to add to this thread?

Did you read the part of the story where Bush and his band of morons let this guy go free with a slap on the wrist after he pleaded GUILTY to terrorism charges?

there is more than a little speculation that Hicks pled guilty in exchange for a lighter sentence. he'd maintained his innocence the whole time, and then suddenly reversed and confessed to everything.

My point is that our fucktarded government can't even manage to get a strict sentence for someone who admits to being a terrorist / admits to giving material aid to terrorists.

Perhaps the point is that our fucktarded government is choosing to give him a lenient sentence so they don't get their asses handed to them (before next election) for gross human rights violations?

i'll agree that it's [insert any number of adjectives here, i'm going to go with "amusing"] that after all the hullaballoo the Bush administration made about protecting us from teh terrars, their first conviction netted a shorter prison term than real estate specualtion. however, i'm not going to get broken up--or mad at the gummint--for handing down a light sentence on someone whose guilt is not clear-cut.
