I can't say that I am for the killing of animals, however i do eat meat. I know it makes no sense. Anyway, I do not like being reminded that what I am going to eat is a living creature. Therefore, I have to say I dislike this traditon. What is next, make packages of beef moo or something... Anyway If a president really wanted to make an impression, make one day a year "National Vegitarian Day". How many animals would be "pardoned" for that one day?

I guess that I see things a lot differently than some people because I grew up hunting, or around people who raise livestock. I'm used to looking at something run around and then killing it and eating it.

I think we should applaud him for finally sparing the life of an innocent... surreal

You didn't know that turkeys are terrorists? Every year, they put how many Americans out of commission with distended stomachs so that their more virulent brethren can come in and finish us all off whilst we roll around bloated and groaning?

No turkey has ever been innocent of being delicious.

Truth is: The turkeys were slayed shortly after for the Presidential Thanksgiving dinner. Bush is the Hitler of the 21st century and there were never any WMD's in the middle east. I guess I should stop smoking crack...

it's interesting that there is a complete disconnect between the president pardoning a turkey from being slaughtered and disassociated from it's animal form - and the slaughtering of any other turkey. why would we pardon a turkey in the first place if on the other side of the coin we find absolutely nothing wrong with eating one. the very fact that we pardon a turkey means that somewhere along our narrow stream of consciousness we recognize that killing a turkey is no good. the problem is when "a turkey" becomes "turkey". we don't make the connection because we don't have to - and we are encouraged not to. there are fundamental flaws in our perceptions and vernacular. i need to stop before i get preachy and gross. and maybe implode.

on an unrelated note: it's totally sweet that two turkeys got pardoned. wooo.

That's a joke... I say, that's a joke, son
