I've been looking over these comments and i've noticed that not alot are done at all by those who are serving. I am a Marine and have been to Iraq and preparing to go back again. the army soldiers who did that were cruel and should be punished. i know myself, my platoon and many other marines treated the kids there good as possible. Some of my best memories were of playing with and seeing the kids. When you're looking for IED's, you're tired, hungry and on the brink of breaking down and you see a group of kids just look to you and wave or smile. it just makes you push on longer and harder. Some of those kids even did great things to help and save marines lives, they gave me memories i'll always cherish. Don't judge all of us by the actions of a few. To those who say they wish a sniper would shoot him, i know a 11 families that wish differently.

I don`t see why we should condemn the whole armed forces for the actions of just a few men. My brother did a tour in Iraq as an engineer. I suppose he deserved to die just by dint of being there? Let`s not get callous about this in our answers.

Just for the record...what a bunch of chumps those marines are. I hope they got court martialled, that was some seriously pathetic humour.

My thoughts exactly.

I suppose it's that apple thing. One bad one ruins the whole batch sort of thing. It's sad that a couple duchebags make everyone look bad.

How do you know the kids were focusing on the water bottle as much as the camera was?

US soldiers commit crimes and US soldiers are punished for them...what is your point? Muslims commit crimes and are not...

Fear the reaper states that US soldierts commited crimes...but then states that they were charged and convicted of them. So the point is moot right?

The point isn't that he was caught, the point is that America, as a nation, whilst claiming to be safeguarding the security of iraq, sent over a man who murdered an innocent and then tried to frame him as a terrorist.

That man's actions harmed the image of every American soldier, in the eyes of the both Iraqis and people elsewhere in the world.

Put another way: Asshattery by a limited number of asshole soldiers reflects badly on every troop on the ground in Iraq, and it doubtless one of the reason that the average (moderate, non-terrorist) iraqi wants us to withdraw.

I realised I implied my brother died in Iraq, he didn't, but I'm just saying that putting a death sentence on hium just because of a couple of douches acted like dicks to some kids is unfair judgment to the armed forces.

I do not blame any of the troops for what happens in this war (well, except those who willingly engaged in criminal behavior). I blame the commanders, the planners and the civlian authorities who have - essentially - betrayed the troops.

How much of the EU media is registered as Democrat? Probably none, brainiac.

What statistics are you referring to? There aren't any mentioned here, so what the fuck are you talking about, exactly?

What? "Registered" as democratic? (or Democratic, for that matter.) Source, please.

And yes, most European states are democracies. Has that stopped being a Good Thing, or something?

mmm because we know that U.S. soldiers are the bestest most trustworthy and honorable you men ever! Fuck that, most of them are 18 year old prickheads who wanted an excuse to play with guns, or people who didn't want to go to war but the armed forces was their best shot at a future.

It's sad to see them acting in such a cruel way to children though. Humans are not honorable beasts. Not in the least.

I'm one of those prickheads, and this made me as sick as you. I seriously doubt many people join the service to play with guns. I can't say everyone, because I haven't met most of them, have you? But everyone I've met is just like me and you, normal people, who want a shot at life.

Well put. After many years of working with Military personnel I have found (oddly enough) that the ratio of asshats/decent-folk in the Military pretty much parallels that of the rest of the world (big surprise)...

Well...with the exception that even the Military asshats will put you in a fireman carry and drag your sorry backside out of a disaster zone, should one be around at the time...

It's good to see asshat (um...I mean, creativename) holds in such high esteem soldiers willing to put their life on the line for people who...well...think they are asshats.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
asshatasshatasshat...I just really like saying asshat....

Yeah, most of them are prickheads, like my husband and the men he has served with over the years.

I'll say it again, the guys who did this should be punished severely (and i still think that waterboarding would be ironic and fitting).

I have a great deal of respect for the men and women in uniform serving our country, but those two guys should seriously be raked over the coals for this. Nothing to do with the fact that they're soldiers, everything to do with the fact that they we being serious assholes to hungry children.

There is no "liberal media bias" in what i'm saying. My opinions on the war itself can (and will) be brought up elsewhere. The video is quite clear to anyone with one functional eye and even a marginally functional cognitive mind. What these two guys did was not funny, and anyone who thinks that it was should be sent to starve in a war torn country and then see how it feels to be taunted by foreign soldiers.

You know...just as an aside...the very fact that children would run for blocks at full speed for clean water...fucking clean water...just breaks me.

I mean...I don't think I know an American kid that would work that hard if you were hanging a fucking PS2 out the back of the truck.

Here's a stupid thought: instead of $250 billion to fight a war, how about a couple dollars to get some fresh water and food to these people? At least someone will like us at the end of the day.

I really hope karma kicks that soldier in the skull.

the U.S. don't have the capability to get water to the Iraqi people.

It's a desperate situation. If the U.S. army tried to distribute water, the people queing would be targeted by insurgents as collaborators.

U.S. presence in Iraq is counter productive, they are training another generation of death squads under the guise of 'iraqi security forces'

October was the deadliest month on record with at least 3700 deaths being reported, this is part of a trend of cinsistantly increasing violence. The argument that the U.S. is needed to prevent a civil war is a lie, there is already a civil war. The U.S. has no control over vast sections of Iraq, and everything they touch becomes a target for attack. they can't even secure the 'green zone' anymore, on monday there was a car bomb within the 'secure area'

Just on the water thing you'd be surprised how much clean water there is in iraq. In the area i operated in they had great irragation and well systems. there would be miles of irragated farmland and canals. A few times we actually had to use water from there wells because our bottled water <imported from neighboring countrie> had gotten boiling hot. The US doesn't need to supply them with water they've been doing it for a long time and have been just fine without help. I saw the local workers build and complete a canal system within my tour.
