Dude, you totally forgot about the part where The Man is oppressing blacks and Mexicans. The man also hates them.

*Note to stoners*

We're creeping towards World War III, people are starving and/or dying of AIDS all over the world, and you guys are still bitching about not being able to get high legally? robot

Pssssssst.

There are a lot of reasons to legalize of marijuana that have nothing (or at least, little) to do with getting baked and sitting on one's couch. It could be considered a decent cause to support, in many ways.

I totally agree. I've never smoked it, and never plan to, but support legalization just for the sheer value of the plant as a renewable resource.

Marijuana...a plant found commonly in nature is illegal to possess & use...while things like Xanax, Oxycontin, Valium etc; are perfectly legal and only require a semi-legitimate prescription.

Alcohol, tobacco, pharmaceuticals & gambling are all legalized vices...but pot is "bad" for you.

My father smokes BY FAR more than anyone I've ever known or even heard of. I've only seen him without it maybe three times since I was 15. I moved to Florida when I was 21, so that makes 6 years that, just in passing, I had difficulty finding him not high. Note that this would be considered a bit "extreme", but that's what I want for this post. He's the only person on his side of the family to live to be his age and not have glaucoma. As long as I've known him, he has never been violent, abusive or pushy. He seems perfectly cool except for the constant extra laid-back vibe. He's disabled (with both shoulders, hips & knees blown out -- all six joints damaged) and the THC really helps him deal with it.

On top of that, out of everyone I've ever known who got high (a decent cross-section of people), only ONE was addicted to weed. Also, tell me how many people die from pot each year?

Contrast this with:
·How destructive is alcohol to the body?
·Granted it's not a great idea, but I've weed seems to have less of a deleterious effect on motor vehicle operation than alcohol
·How many people get violent on alcohol compared to pot?

I could go on & on, but straight observation has shown me that, if anything, weed should be legal and alcohol controlled...and this coming from a drinker who never smoked. whatever

I knew a guy once who OD'd on Xanax. Not pretty. I think he was trying to kill himself. He woke up paralyzed and with no memory of who he was. Over the next few weeks/months, he slowly regained his motor control and his memory came back. I don't know if it ever fully came back, though. How many times has weed done this to someone?

I like what Chris Rock said about it: "The reason coke and weed is so illegal in America is cause the best coke and weed ain't made in America. If they made the good shit here, there'd be a weed and coke bar on every corner. Instead of Krispy Kreme -- Cracky Kreme. Instead of McDonald's -- McCoco's!"

He then goes on to say that Krispy Kreme are so good that if you were told they had crack in them, you say "I knew something was up...they're too good! Got me knocking on the donut window at 3:00 in the morning. 'Come on! Open up! I'll do anything! I'll suck your dick!'" He said that should be their new slogan:

Krispy Kreme -- So Good...You'll Suck A Dick!

25% of all violent crimes involved Alcohol.

If Alcohol is our line in the sand we put weed on the wrong side.
