Israel has warned Lebanon not to fire on Israeli aircraft. If your aircraft were invading my sovereign airspace, bombing my capital, my roads, power, bridges... I'm sorry, but I'd sure as hell shoot back.

The airport was targeted because Israel does not want to give Hezbollah the chance to fly the captured soldiers to either Syria or (more likely) Iran.

That's all well and good but the REAL question is wether you would have invaded another country, kidnap two soldiers and killed eight others for no reason except to stir shit up. I don't think you would.

I'm not totally versed on the matter, but from what I understand:

·Israel & Palestine both claim the same plot of land as holy ground -- as such, a compromise cannot be reached.

·Palestinian leadership feels the calling to wipe Israel from the globe.

·Israel is trying to survive and at the same time is pissed and thus war continues.

Am I wrong on any of this? Unless Palestine terminates all war maneuvers, they can only go downhill from here politically. Even if Israel (out of desperation to end this conflict) began to target Palestinian civilians, it would only look like they were embracing the philosophy of "an eye for an eye".

If Al Quaeda set up a base in Mexico (with the Mexican government's knowledge) and started firing rockets into San Diego, would anyone here be calling for a" measure responce" or "UN intervention?" I doubt it. Try walking a mile in the Israelies shoes for once.

You guys was referring to people that have to use slurs to define the a people.See, I would have had to have said "Jews" previously to be able to make a phrase like " you guys" refer to them. Instead, I was answering his stupidity and his like. All I was referring to was ignoramuses as a group. It had nothing to do with Jews in general. None of my Jewish friends talk like that, but many xenophobic people I see do.

Hezbollah != Government of Lebanon

Lebanon has no control over Hezbollah or the entire southern border. Lebanon, though many Lebanese are fighting, is still run by Syria. Isreal is knocking out infrastrucutre in order to stop resupply by Hezbollah's main supporter, Iran. While I am saddened by the fate of the Maronites, Isreal never wanted this. It has forced them to fight on two fronts.

Hezbollah can end this any time they choose. Isreal does not have that choice. If Isreal backs off now, it is only a short time until missiles are landing in Tel Aviv.

I'm glad to see the back and forth banter on this issue. Many fine points have been made and debated. I just wanted to say that my reference to "Scarabs"... scabs and Arabs.... was not referring to them as a broad brush people in general, but specifically to the war mongers of Hezbollah and Hamas. I am truly sorry if I offended anyone by using a derogatory term that was taken to mean the whole of the Arab people.

I also will respond to a statement made about the isolation and destruction of the "terrorist war machine." I didn't mean the eradication of all terrorism, but only of the war machine that is presently engaging Israel in Lebanon and Gaza, with the below-the-belt help of Iran and Syria.

I still think Israel is going to kick all of their asses and do it like a clean-fighting champion. The fact of the matter is Hezbollah and Hamas have just been waiting to try out their newfound military hardware to engage Israel on two fronts, probably soon to become three or four fronts. If they all want to be the bullies of the region, instead of Israel bloodying their nose, like they have in the past, they should now break it in three places.

Their opposition seems to have a short memory span. It's time to refresh it again. And for the people that think Isreal is targeting civilians; I do not believe that at all. They are surgically trying to "dismantle" the terrorist war machine with strategically-placed bomb strikes and are "isolating" their foes so as to make it difficult, if not impossible, to replenish their wartime resources, communicate properly and transport goods throughout the region.

Isreal always fights a "smart war" because that's the only war they can win against such skewed odds. Like I said before, it's David against Goliath, and all David's slingshot needs is one properly-placed shot at their enemies, and that is what they are accomplishing now in the early part of this particular battle. I truly believe that if anybody sees it any differently, they have their head in the sand, literally and figuratively.

History is calling. It says that it's seen this act before, and it feels we should try harder to come up with some new material.
