Not to mention Time Warner owns Cartoon Network. While Time Warner has about double the profit margin, News Corp. would never give up the exclusive rights to new episodes of Family Guy. This is the same reason we'll never see another new episode of Firefly, and a ton of other actually decent shows Fox has canceled in favor of more episodes of Cops, and never ending baseball games.

Sexist? Peter's sexist ogre act is mocking sexist attitudes, not encouraging them.

Family Guy's animation process is said to be a very lengthy process

Lord knows the writing process sure as hell isn't.

Yeah, but just paying attention to how all the female characters are treated and displayed most of the time, its easy to detect some sexism.

Hmm, i have to agree that Family Guy takes a lot of inspiration from the Simpsons and probably wouldnt exist without it, but i still enjoy it and think it's hilarious...even though it is extremely sexist.

But where would the Simpsons be without the Flintstones? Seriously. And of course the Flintstones were just a rip-off of the Honeymooners, which was based on skits from Jackie Gleason's variety show, etc. etc.

I'm not sure what's wrong with the Simpsons, I thought the last couple of seasons had really gotten better aside from a few bad episodes. I certainly enjoyed last seasons' Simpsons episodes more than I enjoyed last season's Family Guy episodes...

"Family Guy fans be disappointed this season"

Family Guy fans have been disappointed since the new seasons started airing, the show just isn't what it used to be. I stopped watching it after a few episodes when it first came back.

Amen. [In an anti-religious sort of way]

If there's one thing Americans love, it's satire. (For an example of satire, re-read the previous sentence.)

Making Lois the sensible one is brazen misogyny. wink

Other than the cruelty shown to Meg I can't think of a single negative female character on the show. But Peter, Chris, Quagmire, Tom Tucker, Mort Goldman, the NAMBLA guy who's always after Chris (Herbert?), etc, etc are how the men are shown. I'm not saying the show is anti-male, but it's clear women come out ahead.

Hell, the most normal (former) character on the show is a woman: Loretta Brown.

Actually, from what I heard the problem is that Stewie is proving to be increasingly difficult to work with. The drugs and hookers are starting to have a serious impact on his set behavior.

Don't lump all fans in that category. From what I've seen of the new season, I've laughed my ass off. Fox just needs to realize how much Family Guy does for them and pay up. They do more than The Simpsons and they just all got a pay raise.

They've been shilling for that sleazy Pawtucket Pat for years. Not to mention the cheap shit Happy-Go-Lucky Toys puts out.

It would be one thing if this were some sort of debate betwen not just Seth and Fox (say, the Family Guy creative team and Fox) then I would stick up for the talent that deserves compensation. But this is Seth out on his own saying that he deserves more money. I'm sure his deal is pretty damn sweet as it is. He's not even lobbying for more control, either creatively or in distribution or rights (or all the other red-tape areas of TV shows), just more green.

Wonder what others involved in the show think.

That's being in the entertainment industry for you. For all he knows, Family Guy could last all of another five episodes and he never gets hired again. It's tough in an industry where job security is just about the last thing someone can expect.

That would go some way in explaining how evil they are.

Someone better sort this out or Seth might unleash another series of American Dad on us... <shudder>

i second that shudder. what a goddamn disappointment.

I'd say good for seth on this one, they messed it up before, so might as well squeeze every nickel out of the bastards before the next implosion.

That's it...nude oil wrestling at dawn.

But seriously, whatever you think of Family Guy,listen to Seth McFarlane in interviews. The guy is hysterically funny and quite insightful and Fox should be damn grateful in my opinion-I mean they made us watch Dark Angel they could at least stump up a bit more $$$
