w/o boreland they're shit.

the lost their fans when he dissed korn by saying that they were better than korn...

most the time when you fuck yourself by thinking you are sitting on a high horse your fans ditch you.

how could a band with such a great debut album have fallen so far from grace frown

even with borland "significant other" sucked. im sure most people only thought he was cool because of the makeup he wore after their second album.

What an utterly boring discussion. If Fred Durst would wear the same boxer shorts as I did I couldnt'care less. You must be really insecure to care about a wiped out frontman of a would be metal band.
Yes, they were o.k..... for a while, but never that good as Stuck Mojo, the founders of Rap Metal.

Yes. I am seriously insecure and very seriously debated the fate of my shirt. I also debated the fate of my skin because Fred Durts is also white.

I will admit that I am not always the wittiest, but is sarcasm that difficult to pick up on here?

You definitely upped the excitement of the utterly boring dialogue by contributing "Yes, they were OK for a while."

But in all seriousness, I am glad that I now know who officially founded "Rap Metal"

Limp Bizkit is less a band and more a case of herpes. They never go away, they both make life a bit miserable, and "some whore" is responsible for both.

Puke. puke I can't believe how badass he thinks he is. My sister once found a notebook with a picture of Winnie the Pooh on it, grabbed a Sharpie, gave poor Pooh a lame goatee and some piercings--and voila! Fred Durst! The resemblance was uncanny.

That was probably what he was going for... I heard a rumor once that winnie the pooh was really from the streets.
(But my source may be less than credible.)

ask around the 100 acre woods, and you'll hear how much of an O.G. pooh really is. be careful, though. they don't like people that ask a lot questions around there. forget what you mom told you, cause it's not all about honey bees and climbing trees in the 100 acre woods.

Wes Borland was practically the only redeeming thing about the band.

Jesus, someone please deny that the opening riff to nookie isn't killer. It is, hands down.

The music may have been god awfully over produced, but Wes Borland is a pretty talented guy. Don't get me wrong, I hate the band - but lets ponder for a second...

Would they be less maligned if:
- They had a less craptstic name
- The band members wern't all buttheads
- Instead of Durst, they had some super hot indy chick, that could sing beautifully.

LB suffered beacuse their fan base matured, and out grew them, whilst everyone one else thought they were ballbag's to begin with = no new fans. They're still stuck in 99, making the same music, for kids that have moved on.

Becuase Wes Borland has talent. Fred Durst does not. Fred is a shitty "artist" or "writer" or "rapper" or "whateverthefuck". Have you heard Big Dumb Face? That shit is soooo effed up and original, I'm surprised it bombed as hard as it did. I got pretty deep into BDF. As a kid, I was into Limp Bizkit too. High energy, loud, yadda yadda...

Fred Durst is a tool. Wes Borland is badass. I'm gonna check out Black Light Burn and I'm probably gonna enjoy it...

(Oh yeah, and I gotta say that I doubt they "knew" their music sucked or just wanted to make a buck... I don't think there are that many people in the music industry that are certain their "art" is shit. Otherwise they'd be doing something else.)

I gotta say a couple things, brotherman...

Significant Other was one of the first albums I ever really listened to and enjoyed the energy of. Yeah, it was shit. But I was 13. I was hitting the "Oh so THIS is music's purpose?!" stage. I was in love with a lot of their shit, and I'm sure if I popped in Significant Other today I wouldn't hate it, because I have a lot of memories and first-times (drinking, parties, etc.) to some songs on there. It's kind of a fluke how big they got, but like you said, they make some dumb choices...

I loved "Faith" and pretty much all of Significant Other, but other than that it was all garbage.

As for "being stuck in 1999" I'm gonna have to point out that "The Inevitable Truth: Part I" has some serious theme to it (which is new). The music is generally the same old same old Gimp Jizzdick though (which is old). So you're right and wrong there...

Also, I gotta state right now, that I am not a fan of Limp Bizkit. I used to be, and I'll openly admit that they had potential, but Fred Durst is a narcissistic tool. And not a constructive narcissistic tool, either. I'll also openly admit that I like some things they've done. Yeah... I admit it... Point blank...

So my knowledge on LB is due to the fact that I used to love them and kind have been waiting for something noteworthy to come out of them. "The Inevitable Truth: Part I" 's first two songs are badass (for the most part). And then the energy kinda gets stale. Same old Limp Bizkit...

Wes Borland is one talented and orginal motherfucker. I can pick out his sound by ear alone, and his image is just icing on the cake. Big Dumb Face was rad (and one of the most original things I've ever heard), and I'm gonna have to get back to you on Black Light Burn. Chances are, I'll like it.

Borland's a wicked musician. Sam Rivers is a nutty-catchy bass player. John Otto and DJ-Lethal are nothing special. Fred Durst is hepatitis B incarnate.

(Please note, that Borland left the band after "Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog Flavoured Water", then Limp made an album or two without him, they BARELY made the charts, and then they just released an underground album that had NO marketing behind it. Wes Borland rocked this album, and grew out his hair, and ditched the make-up (from the vids I've seen). It was part-one of a two-part quick-listen project. So technically he was "back", for those of you who keep saying "he's still gone". And now it appears he's "gone" again. Can't blame him though.)

I'm high on Codine and Morphine, so forgive me where I lack grammatical sense. smile

(Refer to journal for further explanation.)

Back in the late 90s after all the stupid fuckers got into the music I'd been listening to for years, this was one of the few bands that sprung up that I detested as shit from the moment I heard a peep out of 'em.

311 was the other. But Durst is just such a fucking moron, atop the music being so weak.

Waitwaitwait. Music, or an album, having a theme, was "new" in 1999 and/or "new" now? Ummm.....no. No. Sorry. "Theme" is not a "new" or "within your lifetime" development. Surely you've at least heard of Pink Floyd, or maybe this one album/movie/tour called "The Wall"? I mean, that's one of the biggest examples I could possibly throw, and if you don't know of it....
