I'll tell you how the kabuki theatre/WWF main event"debate" came across to people not fully in the tank or drunk from the Jonestown kool-aid offered by one ticket or the other.

Neither colostomy bag looked presidential or inspiring.

Biden came across like a sleazy, greasy, career politician and liar completely caked up like some Nosferatu character. Slinky, double talking, insincere, condescending smiles, completely serpentine and untrustworthy.

Palin came across as foolish, flimsy, vapid, awkward, and clumsily struggling to come across as some kind of Andrew Jackson frontier figure peppered with missed cue lines.

It was like watching a shitty high school football game between two horrible teams that blunder their way to a 3-3 tie.

What a fucking choice. Both of them faking some stupid inauthentic form of populism. It would be funny if we weren't in perilous times. I wish I could laugh.

This shit was painful to watch.

All I know is, I'm sick of the word Maverick! Especially when referring to an old, sold out, white haired, combed over Republican puppet like McCain has become. Maverick my ass! Never again! Nie! ...et in saecula saeculorum!!!

i think the debate changed nobody's mind. People who supported Obama before the debate, still support him, people who didn't still don't. Palin wasn't enough of a disaster last night to have done any damage.

I think it changed a lot of independent voter's minds.

This entire news page lacks any credibility because it is so grossly liberal. If every since idea or thought of the conservative politicians was trash there wouldn't be conservative politicians. Perhaps objective analysis of both parties and their stances would allow people to accurately choose a candidate which appeals to their desires, rather than this republican ass smashing that leaves all the readers of this site a little dumber and definitely misinformed. I love SG, but I'd rather get my news from my little sister.

If it did anything it made them more cynical and indignant. I doubt either "side" added new adherents.

These guys sucked more than the headliners, which is quite difficult to do.

All the polling I've seen since last night has said there was very little shift in any overall numbers, despite Biden winning by 25-35% amongst independents and undecideds. Obama might pick up a couple percentage points over the next three days as impressions from last night filter into poll results, but nothing really substantial.

That said, "no shift" is a win for Obama. McCain really needs something big to flip momentum, and it's clear he didn't get that last night.

SG doesn't pretend to live up to the standard that you desire, nor do the posters here. At best, it provides opinions that are well researched and documented, and at worst it provides polemic. But journalism it is not.

We used to get these complaints all the time at my college paper, and our answer was always the same - if you want a conservative viewpoint expressed, write an article.

There are still 2 debates left. I anticipate sleeves, and tricks up them.

So was the audience. Everytime she used the term Maverick, the lines dropped noticeably on CNN.

I agree. As much because of how competent Biden seemed compared to how robotic and blathering Palin seemed.

Let me know when conservatives come back to the Republican Party, because right now there are none.

I am distressed by all the positive coverage Palin appears to be receiving this morning from the major press outlets. I did not watch the debate, but my friends, mostly progressive say she bombed.

Is this the press trying to make up to McCain or are we liberals blind to the particular form of connection she makes with viewers?

The press needs a close race, or nobody watches. They will always attempt to make it closer than it really is. They need her to rebound, because it's a good story and it makes this appear to be a race.

But this election is over.

Huh. It's like a mental defect Republicans have. They can't suppress their racism. The more you guys talk, the more and more likely it's going to come out. They just can't help it.

But the funny this is how Republicans stand in bewilderment at their own convention wondering why there's so many white people.

Ok, so the reply button isn't working for some reason. Thank you, Firefox. (I'm a PC, and I don't work very well.)

I'll do my very best to reply to rebuttals to my post after I finish watching the new episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Standby.

So....you'll "get back to us"? wink

I can't be the only one here who sees why this is funny.

Quite a discrepancy between the media and the public on the ol' cnn report card.
