Universal Pictures' Wanted is based on the graphic novel of the same name, but because only one issue had been published when the screenwriters began, they used it as an unique opportunity to develop their own story based on this setup:

Wesley Gibson (James McAvoy) works a dead end office job. His girlfriend is cheating on him with his best friend and he's broke. One evening, a beautiful woman (Angelina Jolie) tells him that his father -- the world's greatest assassin -- was killed yesterday, and...

just saw the movie yesterday... lots of fun and not at all watered down like he mentioned so it gives it that realness despite the quite fictional feats that are performed within

go see it

I just saw Atonement like last week. And my oh my was it really good, better than my expectations.

I liked it waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than The Notebook.

The cast including McAvery was better too.

'll catch Wanted on DVD in a few months though. Like I do with all the films I see.

Wanted was great. as they note in the interview, completely different in terms of story and milieu from the comic, but it's good enough on its own that i can't see how anyone would mind. the style of the film was really good, and the effects were goddamn amazing.

I didn't really like it. I think Shia should never have been filmed in slow motion. all and all I say anglina jolie's ass wasn't worth my $10.95

Saw it yesterday - lots of fun, and McAvoy is really, really good. I can't think of the words "I'm sorry" without grinning now. Glad I have a neighborhood theatre with $5 matinees and good quality tech.

That said, to say 'Wanted' is like the comic is like saying 'The Lawnmower Man' was like the book. There's like 1 shared element (Gibson kills people, Jobe mows lawns), the rest is totally unique.

I saw them film the bus crash that happens near the beginning of the film at the corner of Wabash and Wacker a while back. I can't believe all those hours for that setup for like a second of final film. Crazy how that works.

Cool interview!

I first saw James McAvoy in Sci-Fi Channel's Children of Dune miniseries. I was impressed and have been waiting for him to really break out. Haven't seen Wanted yet, but kinda hope it gets him into better roles. He has some talent.
