dude, gnostic parties suck. all sitting around in the dark on a hard dirt floor, quietly sipping on some water-- or maybe not, lets not get too crazy with the thirst quenching-- no music, no food, no conversation. give me a saturnalia any day!

Sartre was right about, "Nothingness" as a positive pronoun that forces you initially into, but eventually away from, Bad Faith; or, to paraphrase Rabbi Shim'on: "Faith is Being projected into Nothingness"...this is about as spiritual as I will ever get...

Religion is the proving something exists
Faith is the knowing that something exists

No. You've already dealt your indecisive card.

I believe in God.

But I have the intellect to realize I have no evidence beyond myself to show to others, and as such I claim Agnosticism. I have faith, but I am willing to be disproven.

But what if the cat was a zombie cat? I mean, the cat is neither living nor is it dead, so its obviously both; I always thought the 'Z' solution solved the whole Cat Paradox thing rather nicely... biggrin whatever

I think so. There's no reason not to pick a particular religion who's god(s) you aren't sure exist(s).

It's mostly because of the circles I travel in, but I know way more self-righteous asshole atheists and agnostics than I do self-righteous asshole Catholics, Jews, Muslims, etc.

man, I know a couple of smug atheists, but they just don't remotely compare in numbers or in volume to the self-righteous asshole evangelicals and catholics and baptists bombing abortion clinics, trying to eliminate the teaching of evolution, and attempting to subvert the secular US government for their own ends. not to mention the various muslim groups who want to kill us all, using their religion as justification. I've never had some persistent jerk trying to force feed me a pamphlet about atheism as I'm walking down the street, never had an atheist knock on my door wanting to talk about it... are you sure you don't just notice the self-righteous asshole atheists more?
