I think the humor in the movie, Love Guru, is going to center around jokes of irony. IE, isn't it funny that a very white man, Myers, is playing an "Indian" person. He's not indian, he's caucasian! HHAHA (/sarcasm)
There's going to be parody, and there's going to be sexual innuendos, but a lot of the jokes I've seen so far are as TheCoolerKing put it "His little pillow-car beeps when it backs up! Like trucks do! But it's not a truck, you see, it's a... "

And I get this feeling because thats Austin Powers was mostly Sexual Innuendos, and the movie was advertised as such. I went into knowing the movie would be mostly innuendos, and you know what I got? In you end oh's all over the place.

...maybe Irony is the wrong word though? I'm looking at it now, and not sure if Irony is the right word. But nevertheless, I feel the movie is going to be a lot of jokes of "Its A trying to B, but A can't be B because they are opposites!"

Film students think too much.

What annoys me more is people saying they'd never see a movie like this with the same snobbish tone people use when they brag about how they never eat at McDonalds or don't own a television. Your biases aren't interesting to me, only your opinions on things you've actually evaluated.

The problem with this position is that I have to pay to see shit in order to be able to have an "informed opinion" about it. In the film industry, if a bunch of people pay to see something, and most of those people end up hating it, Hollywood will produce more of the same kind of shit. Why? Because it makes money. They'll produce more bullshit, more people will line up with their dollars so they can make "informed decisions" of the level of the bullshittery of the film, and the cycle will simply continute. To quote the gret John Lovitz line: "If it's not good, just don't go."

I probably would watch this film if I didn't have to pay for it.

Oh, and I don't eat at McDonald's because it's really fucking unhealthy. If you're eating there, I hope you manage to avoid a heart attack. Or diabetes.

Oh, and I don't necessarily have to condone something to use it as an example. Plenty of people who brag about about not eating somewhere like McDonalds eat food just as unhealthy. The statement was more about social posturing than dietary habits. Though I admit fast food is probably more dangerous than mediocre comedies.

And I'll be sure to sleep with one eye open and the night-light on should the Hamburglar sneak into my room with a order of diabetes and a punch to the heart if I ever dare splurge on cheap fast food.

I think you are missing one very good comedic irony, that the movies tries to get audience to believe the Toronot Maple Leafs are contenders for the cup.... ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha....(breath)... ha ha ha ha ha..... sorry that is worth the price of admission for me. I will use that $20 to pay my admission for the movie.

It's actually called "reversal of expectations." Irony can involve expectation reversal and vice versa but they are not synonymous. Just so you know next time you want to talk about something like this. smile

Mike Myers is a really funny comedian. Yes this movie looks like it sucks, but what comedian isn't in a bad movie or two? Ever see "Semi-Pro"?

Jealousy is an ugly emotion.

Oh, God.

Are we over analyzing this or what? Austin Powers was funny because it mocked every single spy movie ever made (though three was very weak in my opinion).

Wayne's World was funny, though I am not sure why.

This movie looks stupid because it looks like an Austin Powers B-flick, and worse not funny!

I really got sick of the Austin Powers movies, one was passable, two less so, and three was abysmal. There were way too many product placements for me also. I have no intention of seeing the new MM movie as it looks fairly lame.

It is "cool" to avoid any and all trailers that resemble this one. That should make it easier to get a handle on.

God forbid people enjoy having conversations about movies.

This message board would be pretty dull if people just stated facts without discussing them in any way.

On the other hand, it would mean we'd never hear from Stockula or Uptight ever again.

If the funny moment can be any part from anybody in the movie, I'll go with the part Stephen Colbert does, when hes the announcer of what should be the hockey game, from the commercial I saw

Safe bet
