This is the way I plan to go... either that or taking my dad's SA-80 and a couple dozen full clips to the mall.

A couple of local girls died of helium asphyxiation recently when they went jumping in a helium-filled ad balloon.

One thing wikipedia doesn't mention is somehow dogs detect the low O2 and haul ass. Nobody knows how they do it, but they're the only mammals to do so. Everything else just gets sleepy.

It's more expensive to execute a person than keep a person in prison for life.

The rest of what you posted was emotional drivel.

I think what Oyaji said was essentially correct if a little insensitive.
I do agree its more expensive to execute and its proven execution isn't an effective deterrent. So the only real reason anyone who understands the facts would opt to support death penalty in any way would be out of fear or hatred. The purpose of the penal system of a civilized society is to rehabilitate someone for life back in society or manage them humanely if they cannot be reintroduced. So Spyder13 yes the rest was emotional charged rant based on hate or fear. Actually, if you had said maybe lifetime imprisonment for people of severely traumatizing crimes that damage lives, then yes that might have said something intelligent. The whole thinning the herd comment sounded a little genocidal though. Once people start deciding to just remove the elements in society they don't like for one reason it becomes easier to get rid of others for another. Then again maybe my logic is faulty. If so an explanation of how would be most appreciated.

Just my two cents

2 cents acknowledged. How about a nickle back?

Some of us (vast minority on this forum) that feel that those that commit henious crimes (pre-meditated murder, rape, etc) are not feared OR hated, but simply derserve an ample dose of their own medicine. Not rehabilitation, but well-deserved consequences!

Horse. Shit. You can argue all sorts of things about the death penalty, but you can't argue that it's born out of hate. It's pure machismo and revenge.

I mean, at least argue there's a deterrent effect or something. But don't sit there and with a straight face argue that the death penalty is not predicated on the baser emotions of the human condition. You insult the intelligence of everyone here when you come here with that idiocy.

At some point I will send you a picture of my boobs to show you how much I care.

I half second this, as I am taking business law, and even though it doesn't all pertain to my class, it's still helpful! YAY!

Um...you're welcome!

Please to send me boob pictures then, yes?

So, if the Court decides that this is unconstitutional, then what? Obviously it won't be allowed any more, but what about the people who have been killed that way? They can't very well reverse the process, but would their families be allowed to sue the government for having done something that was unconstitutional yet legal at the time?

No. This same sort of thing happened when they found the Gas Chamber in California unconstitutional. All those people who've died that way are just dead.

You felt insulted? You seem to have a hard time dealing with a minority opinion - at least minority on this far left leaning board.

I'll say again, with a straight face, that many citizens of our country feel capital punishment is a fitting consequence of commiting the worst crimes imaginable. It's not macho, hateful, revenge, or a deterrent. You choose to kill someone, you choose death for yourself.

Why is that position "Horse. Shit." ?

I disagree that the purpose of incarceration is rehabilitation, and even if it was it doesn't work very well for many crimes: highlights of DOJ report, from DOJ recidivism.

For sociopaths, I view execution as the most practical solution. However, the unfairness of our justice system regarding race and class dissuade me from promoting this method at this time. In general, there has been little success in treating people with antisocial personality disorder... Refusal to execute those who cannot understand their actions leaves little doubt that society's motivation stems from a desire for retribution, and that the criminal understand the significance of the retribution.

No rational method of crime control seems likely, so I'll just let the rest of you work it out.

Whaddaya gonna do, sue me in Wisconsin for being a fancier, more expensive lawyer than you? Is that a cause of action now in scheister court?

That's it? That's all you've got? I guess the quality of the CE board comments really have taken a nose-dive. Man, where's reprobate when you need him?

Oh come off it and stop playing the wounded conservative role. Just make your arguments.

Shit." ?

Because it is. Just because you keep saying it's not based on hate or revenge doesn't make it so. It's the very definition of a vengeful act.

1. To inflict punishment in return for (injury or insult).
2. To seek or take vengeance for (oneself or another person); avenge.

n.

1. The act of taking vengeance for injuries or wrongs; retaliation.
2. Something done in vengeance; a retaliatory measure.
3. A desire for revenge; spite or vindictiveness.
4. An opportunity to retaliate, as by a return sports match after a defeat.

You keep saying you "choose death". It's an eye-for-an-eye, right? That's fucking revenge, dude. Don't dress it up in anything else it's not. Because we know that the Death Penalty is not a deterrent against crime. We know that the Death Penalty is more expensive than the alternative. We know that it's applied in a racially uneven manner. We know that it's prone to mistake.

In short, we know that it's a policy disaster. So why support it, other than "I think that dude should die"? There is no rational reason for supporting the death penalty (which, I assume is why you've cited to none). It's pure, unadulterated revenge.

It's the height of hilarity, and speaks volumes about my insecurity, that I made a glib comment about being fancy and expensive, which I am.

FIXED.

I've kept my penis zipped up in my pants thankyouverymuch. But I do love calling out those in my profession that are so quick to bust out the yardstick. Especially when they have NO idea who or what they're dealing with. That, IMHO, is poor lawyering.
