This article reminds me of Paul Krugman's column from last Friday:

Mark Crispin Miller, the author of "The Bush Dyslexicon," once made a striking observation: all of the famous Bush malapropisms -- "I know how hard it is for you to put food on your family," and so on -- have involved occasions when Mr. Bush was trying to sound caring and compassionate.

By contrast, Mr. Bush is articulate and even grammatical when he talks about punishing people; that's when he's speaking from the heart. The only animation Mr. Bush showed during the flooding of New Orleans was when he declared "zero tolerance of people breaking the law," even those breaking into abandoned stores in search of the food and water they weren't getting from his administration.

Yes, you beat me to linking this interesting piece. Assailing his ridiculous abuse of the English language is not exactly groundbreaking, but Miller makes an interesting case for why it really matters beyond the standard (but still amusing) "ha ha, our president is such an idiot." His few moments of real linguistic clarity on a national scale did seem to come directly after 911 when he was still in his "we'll hunt 'em down and skin 'em up" vengeance mode.

AND he misspelled 'someone' as well.

Don't pay any attention to him, he's just some yay-hoo that comes around here, never makes sense, shows off his complete lack of intelligence and grasp for basic grammar, and spews conservative vitriol left and right.

Please, we only elected him once, the first time he was appointed...

Man, the best part was when he said the building going up 'was preventing work'.

But until GW personally lies to a Grand Jury? Let's leave Slick Willy out of this.

Too much correct grammar and intelligence can kill you. FYI.

Of course, going by that, it means that GWB is immortal. Suck.

He certainly has trouble speaking in front of people, but I'm pretty sure he knows what he's doing, which is fucking up the world for the benefit of himself and his buddies. Probably more scary than just being an idiot.

Shouldn't they have started writing speeches for him so that they could avoid him sounding like this? I mean, at this point, he should know what he sounds like when he ad-libs, so why not hire some speech writers to make him sound more intelligent?

Articles like this confuse the hell out of me. Not for FTR's points, which I whole-heartedly agree on, but because they exist. It doesn't make sense at all.

But then again, he's a dumbass. And probably just doesn't stick to the prepared speeches, and then he ends up discussing how many decisions he decided before he decided to decide to come here.

What's sad is that I have to make my own trolls.

Anyway, as a linguist, I enjoy the experiment of typing like that. It's an interesting challenge, and frankly, I'm gratified that it's actually convincing.

Did it bring physical pain to you to have to qualify it like that? I thought it was the liberals who were the relativists. Sheesh.
