i have a bit of a problem. i'm absolutely tired of my platinum hair and want to do it darker. a friend warned me that if i just went ahead and dyed it dark brown, it'd come out orange and i definitely don't want that.

i have been bleaching a chunk of my hair for probably about...6 months (not constantly, i had three rounds about two months apart) i bleached it from black, to a light blonde.
but i wanted to dye it red (because i simply got tired of the blonde, and tried it with a box dye a few days ago.
the ends didnt really take to the dye, but i figured it was because of how dead it was. but the first time i washed it, the majority of my chunk was this horrible orange brown colour, with only about two inches of roots staying red.
so i went to sally and told them i had screwed up (i hate going in there and telling them i used a box dye lol) and they basically told me my hair was too porous and i had to do it again.
so i bought my colour and developer and tried again.
now i havent washed it out yet...but the ends are already the same orangey brown see-though colour..and looks awful. i have a feeling that when i wash it it will come out again
what do i do?!!?!
do i try it again? is it too late to do a filler now that i've already coloured it, or does the colouring itself work as a filler now that ive done it twice?

well scratch that. just dyed it again, with a filler, and there was no change to the bottom half of the streak
that makes three times and no improvement
i guess i'm stuck with this til it grows out enough to chop it off
